04.04.2011: HB 3168 Update: HB 3168 was heard in Committee Thursday evening, no votes were taken on the bill. A committee substitute was offered in the hearing and it appears to try to freeze longevity pay for current employees on August 31, but does away with it new employees hired after that date. TPEA supports maintaining current law with regard to longevity pay.

The full text of the committee substitute has been made available by TPEA.

The Texas Public Employees Association is in the process of enhancing its ability to communicate with you in a more effective and timely manner in preparation for the next legislative session, and we need your help! Although you may also be receiving TPEA updates to your office computer, we are trying to build our home email database. We’re doing this because we have made agreements with the state agencies to not use their equipment to promote advocacy position statements or legislative action alerts.

Additionally, this information will be needed to access the upcoming members-only sections of this website. Please use the signup form on the left to update your information. Your Member ID can be found on your TPEA membership card. If you don't know your ID and cannot find your card, please contact TPEA at 1-888-367-8732.

TPEA has redesigned the look and content of its website as the first step in an ongoing series of improvements to its overall communciations model. During the next months, users can expect up-to-date information, new methods of communication, and other exciting features that will make tpea.org a valuable resource for Texas state employees.

You can check this page for information about the latest features and additions to the website. If you have any suggestions or commentary, please contact Alexander Dodwell, the Communications Director for TPEA, at adodwell@tpea.org.
