FUTURE SCHEDULE FOR 2009 & 2010

AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center

All State Employee CelebrationApril 2, 2009 – Every Texas state employee is invited to attend this celebration.  It will be held at Scholz Garten in Austin.  The Celebration features live music, complimentary appetizers and drinks from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.  The ASEC is co-hosted with the Department of Public Safety Officers Association.

Delegates Meeting – On Saturday, June 27, 2009, TPEA delegates will meet in Austin at the new AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center at The University of Texas.  Delegates will start with lunch at 12:30 p.m. then continue with the business of the association till 4:30 p.m.  In order to assure a quorum is available for this meeting; delegates are also invited to participate via conference call.  Details to follow once delegates have been identified.  Delegates who do plan to travel to Austin may call the AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center directly at 512-404-3600 to make hotel reservations.  The rate is $85/night for single and double rooms.  Please be sure to state you are attending TPEA’s Delegate Meeting in order to get the group rate.

Leadership Retreat/Boot Camp – In addition to the bi-annual Professional Development Conference, TPEA will initiate a new meeting. This retreat will be held in September or October, 2009 in the beautiful Texas Hill Country.  Its purpose is to educate the new/future leaders of the association.  The retreat will be held in odd-numbered years and be by invitation only.  Each Chapter President within TPEA will invite 2-3 guests from their area.  They will be identifying active members who have fresh and innovative ideas; those who are investing in their future.  If this describes you, get involved with your chapter so you can participate in this all-expenses-paid retreat.

Unsung Hero Award Nominations & Luncheon – Nominations for the Unsung Hero Awards will be held every other year, rather than annually.  This gives state employees a two-year time period to perform exemplary public service.  The Unsung Hero Awards are designed to give all state agencies an opportunity to recognize those employees who represent the ideals of a public servant and define public service.  The nomination process will begin in October, 2009 and end with a luncheon in March, 2010.  The All State Employee Celebration will be held later the same day as the luncheon at Scholz Garten.

All State Employee CelebrationSpring, 2010 – As in the past, this celebration will be co-hosted with the Department of Public Safety Officers Association and held on non-legislative years.  Scholz Garten in Austin will again serve as the host location for this event.  The Celebration features live music, complimentary appetizers and drinks from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.  The ASEC will be held the same day as the Unsung Hero Awards Luncheon.

Bi-Annual Professional Development ConferenceJune 25-26, 2010 - Because of the decrease in attendance, the changing modes of communication, and opinions expressed in the survey, TPEA’s annual conference will now be held in even-numbered years only. The conference will also be reduced in time away from the office and family.  It will begin on a Friday afternoon and end Saturday around 5:00 p.m. – now just a 1 ½ day action-packed conference!  The 2010 conference will be held in Austin at the AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center at The University of Texas.
